Media personality MC Kats has revealed that he earns about USD 1,000 per month from his role at NBS Television, but despite the steady income, he plans to quit television next year to focus on his own personal ventures.

Speaking at a club event, where he had traveled for a show, MC Kats openly shared that he feels his time on television has come to an end after more than two decades of service.

Next year, find me on YouTube. I think I’ve done enough. I’ve served this country enough. Twenty-three years on TV… it’s enough.

Kats explained that his decision is also motivated by a desire to create space for upcoming talent, noting that television should continuously evolve by giving new faces opportunities.

MC Kats, who currently co-hosts NBS After 5 alongside Douglas Lwanga, DVJ Mercy, DJ Roja, and Viana Indi, also reflected on the growth of the entertainment industry, particularly emceeing. He expressed satisfaction that many people are now taking up emceeing seriously, unlike in the early days when pioneers like himself were dismissed.

When we started, nobody believed in us. They called us wannabes. Now people are respected and taken seriously in the industry.

MC Kats’ media journey spans several major Ugandan television stations. He began his career at WBS TV, later moved to NTV Uganda, where he worked on the popular show Xpozed, and eventually joined NBS Television, where he has become one of the station’s most recognizable faces.
